«Our daily goal is to achieve environmental sustainability, which means ensuring an efficient production process that is not polluting and uses minimal energy to conserve the planet’s resources. In fact, we want to leave a better world to future generations by continuing to produce quality chains ethically and without waste»
This is our entrepreneurial vision of sustainability that is now on everyone’s lips and is proposed to us everywhere with the risk that it becomes just a nice thought without any concreteness.
I have a profound conviction in this value and consider it an ethical and moral obligation, not just for the future of the planet but also for our present as men, citizens, and entrepreneurs living in our territory.
Since I was young I loved nature, the beauties of the world and a healthy and clean world. Then I joined the company and, having become an entrepreneur, I understood that I could make concrete choices to be able to work honestly, ethically and with an eye on the environment. It was 1988 and there was still no talk of sustainability but we still studied a production process with no emissions into the atmosphere and no water discharges, with very little waste generated and with recyclable packaging.
Over time we have continued to pursue this philosophy and today 3C CATENE produces approximately 7 million meters of chain per year with only 120,000 kWh of electricity, 190 m3 of water and 200 liters of industrial oils used. To reach these levels we have continuously invested in systems, machinery, projects and organization but above all in environmental culture. Believing that we can change things ourselves is a utopia but to strive daily to do so and try to be an example for our young people is a duty of us great.
We must transmit the value of beauty and cleanliness, the fight against waste in all areas of our daily lives but above all it is essential to make understand the young generations not only talk about sustainability but try to make their own identity.
It makes me smile for example when at the ATM they are advised not to print the receipt in order to “to save the planet” when then the bank itself sends you paper communications that you never requested. Is this sustainability or just propaganda?
We do not have a good example from those who govern us, at every level: too much waste, inefficiencies and filth; but we must start to believe in it and try to do our best to preserve as much as possible every type of resource that we can manage and try to maintain it for those who come after.
This means for me and for 3C CATENE practicing sustainability, starting from the small things and from everything we are able to manage. Everything else is just hypocrisy and bantering.
